Best Choice Save-a-Label program offers easy fundraising opportunity
Schools, not-for-profit organizations redeem labels for cash
Traveling down the aisles of the neighborhood grocery store, shoppers find themselves starring at a variety of products dressed in labels and packaging designed to infulance their ultimate decision.
But for people looking to raise money for their school or nit-for-profit organization, Best Choice® is the only choice, thanks in part to the Save-A-Label Program.
Both Larry's Best Yet and Homeland Grocery Stores will be participating again this year to help the local schools.
The Best Choice Save-A-Label Program is an easy fund-raising opportunity that allows participants to save labels for cash. For every 1,000 UPCs redeemed, a group earns $30.
Over the past four years, nearly 11,000 groups have earned more than $1 million.
This year, there are 100s of groups in the state of Oklahoma participating in the program.
One such group in Oklahoma City, Trinity Presbyterian Women has been collecting Best Choice labels for more than eight years.
Group member Betty Ables said she orginally proposed the idea to the group as an easy means of raising extra money.
Over the years she said, she has not only reaped the benefits of earning cash for her group, she has also discovered new products to try and love.
"I wouldn't have stayed with the program this long i f it didn't work or if I didn't like the product," Ables said.
"To me, it's just a bonus because we don't have to work for the money and there is always someting new to try. Just this morning I made Best Choice biscuits for breakfast."
As students head back to school, many not-for-profit organizations will begin collecting labels for educational uses.

"It really has been my pleasure to work with the Country Mart store in Abilene for community support activities. My first adventure and also the longest one was with their Save-A-Label program. Our children attended a small rural grade school. At one of our PTO meetings, someone suggested that we start saving Best Choice Labels. I had already started saving them knowing that someone somewhere would eventually want them. I agreed to do the collecting and counting. The first year we got three or four thousand labels. Then someone suggested that we should make this more interesting for the kids, kind of fun for them. Hence was born the "Label Lady"! She appeared at the school and challenged the students to all kinds on contests."
"The winner always won a "Label Party" during which all the refreshments provided were, of course, Best Choice labeled. Every class always won at least once during the school year. And, our label count soared! We were sending in 10 - 12 thousand labels. I always looked at it as free money, something that you would have thrown away. One mother told me that she hated to take her kids shopping with her because they only would let her buy Best Choice things!! It has been a great fund raiser for Rural Center."

"Just a note to let you folks know about your Best Choice products. I for one have tried all that I can and find them very good. I compared the angel food cake mix to the others and I must admit, it is every bit as good if not better and the price is better yet. Being on a strict budget, every penny helps and we do love our deserts so I do bake a lot. What I also like is the 2 step method. it makes for a more beautiful texture, not full of big holes, etc, like the 1 step method does. Here's to your Best Choice products, we appreciate the quality and the Savings."

"We find your "Always Save" coffee very good. We find near all of your products very good indeed. "

"Just a few words to commend you on one of your products. Last week I purchased a two pound jar of Always Save strawberry preserves at Price Chopper Store in Endicott, NY. I opened the jar and found it to contain almost solid strawberries with very little liquid or filler. I have used other brands, but they could not hold a candle to the amount of strawberries and flavor contained in your product. I wish that I had counted the number of strawberries in that two pound jar. I am sure your sales will go up after I have told my friends of my lucky find.
My wife passed away four years ago, so I am the only shopper in my home. I am retired and am always looking for a good buy or bargin. I have used your corn muffin mix and some of your other products and always am happy with my purchases. "
